Is the escape game tablet- or app-based?
No, "The Mystery of the Cathedral Rider" is deliberately not tablet- or app-based to ensure a fully interactive experience. The investigative backpack, with its tactile equipment, invites participation and puzzle-solving. This prevents a situation where one person is glued to a screen while others stand bored.
However, at least one internet-enabled smartphone (for navigation to individual spots, for retrieving an audio sequence) must be brought along.
This keeps the experience authentic and communal, with a touch of modern support where it is truly needed.
How many people is the tour suitable for?
Our outdoor escape tour is ideal for groups of up to 10 people. If your group is larger, you can still join; we'll provide you with several puzzle backpacks, subject to availability, and you can split up for the tour. You can then start either all at once or slightly staggered. Please contact us via WhatsApp or chat to arrange this.
How much does the outdoor escape tour "The Rider's Secret" cost?
You pay between 20 and 25 euros for each person (aged 13 and over) for "The Secret of the Cathedral Rider".
What do I need to bring?
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing for a 2-3 hour stay outdoors and comfortable shoes for an approximately 3 km walk.
Bring a drink and maybe a snack.
Each group needs at least one internet-enabled smartphone. Otherwise, you will receive all the necessary equipment in the investigative backpack.
Is the tour playable regardless of the weather?
Yes, regardless of whether it's spring, summer, autumn, or winter, you can play the "The Secret of the Cathedral Rider" puzzle tour all year round. Even drizzle, wet ground, or wind won't spoil the fun. However, if it's pouring rain on your booked time slot, you can reschedule or change your booking free of charge, or receive a voucher.
Is "The Rider's Secret" suitable for children?
For families with (small) children aged 5 to 10, we recommend our children's puzzle tour "The Sams"!
For children aged 9 and over, the tour "The Trail of the Tomcat Murr" in Bamberg is also very suitable, as its level of difficulty is also manageable for beginners.
The "The Rider's Secret" tour is not specifically designed for children and is only fully recommended for children aged 13 and over.
Of course, children under 13 can still join in and solve the puzzle – with parental support and guidance. The tactile, interactive elements are especially enjoyable for children. Children up to and including 12 years of age participate completely free of charge. From the age of 13, children are considered full participants in "The Rider's Secret".
When can we play the Escape Tour?
Our booking system shows all available dates. Since daylight is needed to solve the puzzle, we are dependent on sunrise and sunset, and therefore, start times are available in the early evening during the summer, but not in the winter.
The tour can be played every day, even if the cathedral is explicitly not always accessible (due to services or concerts). The puzzles are designed to be flexible accordingly.
What makes our escape game so special?
Unlike other outdoor escape games, our puzzle tour is only playable in Bamberg and is not based on identical stations simply placed at different GPS coordinates. It is 100% tailored to the city, its history, and its locations and cannot be played anywhere else. All puzzles are handmade, unique, and tactile. You don't need to install an app, and we won't provide you with a tablet. An internet-enabled smartphone is only required to listen to an audio sequence.
Are we solving puzzles together with others?
No, we don't mix groups. You always start in the exact group you specified when booking and are completely on your own. Since several groups are on the tour simultaneously on busy days, it's unavoidable that you might encounter other groups along the way. We leave enough space between the individual group starts, but of course, we can't and don't want to dictate the pace at which anyone solves the puzzles, so this is unavoidable. But this won't detract from your puzzle experience :)
